From: Kicker Category: Art Date: 29 January 2007 Time: 07:50 AM Review: The White Cube openings are always a great place to meet up with our old friends the high and mighty, coiffed, modelled and manicured to perfection, the young and old, both groups noticeably tanned (lets not forget the colour of their skin, whiteys all but few). Since this white cube has landed (like some weird flying saucer from some far off industrialised art planet) in Piccadilly it brings in all the more perfected model citizens from the west. Grimy artists are still to be found in the mix, and ART great art, but for the cost and logistics of shipping over of large palm tree from some where the show upstairs aint much to look at - reminding me of lets make some nature inspired cards for stay at home mums - larger scale. Downstairs it’s the more familiar horizon like images which I prefer, these desert landscape like paintings some how suitable for the nowhere place that the gallery space is. Near by and conveniently opening the same night (we're busy you know one night for art in our lives is what we can manage) is Hauser and Wirth.
