From: blp Category: Art Date: 22 January 2007 Time: 08:13 AM Review: I always skip stats in newspapers because all they do is solidify something the article's already saying, but it's ridiculous to suggest they shouldn't be there at all. The burden of proof is always on journalists' shoulders, tedious as it is, because without it, they could lie to us (more) and make (more) mistakes. The emotion you invoke approvingly has its place, but if that's what you want, there's always art (I mean, literature, music etc., not just contemporary art). In journalism, emotion can all too easily turn into prejudice.
