From: tell Category: TV Date: 06 January 2007 Time: 02:10 PM Review: These shows are a creeping mould on the tv schedules of britain, filling the nights of channels 3 and 5. An irritating scourge, worse than reality tv. Basically you have a presenter standing next to a puzzle or riddle, and viewers pay 75p per phonecall to guess the answer (with web entry free for those who want to, but the all night quiz channel demographic is probably non-broadband enough to generate huge profits.). The prize is up to 50,000 quid. Those of us who used to enjoy obscure movies, bad american tv series, even soft core pornography is better than this cruel exploitation of the fruit machine addiction of the poor and insomniacal. The big thing is that the answer to the big money questions is finedishly difficult, involving the most obscure inquiries into common language. read this to understand: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=352706&page=1&pp=25 Combine this with either a market trading manic bbq suntan man, or a cleavaged pleasantish fair ground woman, that quiz show under pressure music, and crap graphics including a barking terrier in the corner of the screen... and you have compulsively watchable tv. One day all channels will be like this 24 hours.. a very long night.
