If she's miserable and her life's gone down hill since you last saw each other then that'll make you very sad. If her life is just plodding along with petty ambitions and the usual work stresses hearing about it will be mundane and unsatisfying. If she still feels tender towards you but is in a good new relationship then you have a responsibility to leave her alone. What's the best case scenario? a bit of fondness, things as they were 8 years ago and a moist goodbye? Impossible. Nostalgia is good, leave it there. Sounds like maybe you're bored.
