This film is actually, shock horror, an amiable, Peter Sellers style, caper, road movie across America.
It didn't split my sides, rupture my spleen, or giggle my head off, didn't even raise a big laugh except
in the naked wrestling scene, and was much less provocative than the tv show. I felt quite sympathetic
to Borat, his infatuation with Pamela Anderson, is nicely pathetic. The only real jars (jugs) relative to
this type of comedy are when Borat indulges in anti-semitism. This must mark some kind of turning
point, a Jewish comedian satirising virulent anti-semitism in a a mainstream, in fact a huge hit of a
Hollywood comedy. Either we're (the human race post Holocaust, no art after Auschwitz, just gross
out comedies) completely fucked, or it's a one off, or it's great and we've got a new normal where
these things can be joked about ( or NOT! by the Iranian President).

I digress. Borat is the new Mr Bean. How's that for damning with faint praise.
