Review:

I love Ockney.I do. Hockney hackneyed. no. skill and bones. skill and bones. pieces of hate.

remember that ockney book you looked at as a child, he appeals to the childish desire for modernism
made easy, cubism made photo-collage, matisse and van gogh in a nice recognisable portrait with
hot colours just decoration.

the wooly jumper brigade can show him up their asses. hockney is boring talented. The best stuff is
the stiff portaits of figures in californian landscape, they have something of their time, a cool
appreciation of surfaces, also that early picture of his gloomy father. the rest is rather feeble and tries
too hard going nowhere.
