How silly that review was.
Those paintings of yorkshire are great!

We all know Hockney is bordering on being the worst painter ever, but if we forget that for a moment 
and think about the paintings in context of his life and other works then they are quite humbling.

Just as 18th and 19th century artists, all trained in london in the style of cotman constable etc etc,  
went out to the new world and struggled to express the vastness of the wild west. so we have 
Hockney, prior to his return, painting vast Grand Canyon scenes before moving to Bridlington (or 
wherever it was).

I like that, that change around. I like the tree tunnels that go straight up the painting like they were 
those route 66 (i think) photo montages. i like his Vincent trees. Hockney is and was nothing other 
than a brilliant draughtsman. the best we have today.
