It's funny to see what survives. The winner is a late Van Gogh of some leaves which is a small eye-popping stunner. Oddly second prize goes to another impastor, Gillian Ayres, amazing that her work should look this good, but it really glows and is hard to tear away from. Ian Davenport, boring, and Raqib Shaw and Suling Wang, both representing Victoria Miro gallery, stand up less well, it would have been nice to see Shaw up against a Tieopolo, who seems to have inspired his composition.
