From: anon Category: Theatre Date: 18 August 2006 Time: 07:50 AM Review: I thought that this play was interesting, but ultimately only half a play. It is constructed of sections, three discrete units that at first seem unconnected: 1 some cancer victims meet and might fancy each other. 2 some PR students work on an assignment to design a new religion. 3 an actress prepares in her dressing room. Through cross-referencing we get a loose story about a love affair in the past and a mother–daughter relationship, neither of which ever comes to anything - half a play – we just understand what the relationships are, then it ends. Another complaint: There seemed to be a lot of wastage – many, superfluous, abundantly placed, unnecessary, extra words. What was interesting was the theme – the sense of stifling from an arbitrary oppressor, which takes many guises. The production was good.
