Review:

A big great goth cathedral dominates a town of charity shops and a new University on a swan
infested water. I never thought to go to these once thriving famous named towns of England, but then
again besides the annoying ye olde sweetshops and cakerooms, they startle with their beauty. If in
Italy, and not overrun with foreign language students and dismal natives, they would be lauded as
gems and be destinations for us snobby Londoners. Instead we jet off, liquid explosives
notwithstanding, to more exotic climes with people who don't speak our language and thus offend us
less with their barbarous provencalness. Perhaps I shall make a series of visits to our beautifully over
decorated cathedrals, hopefully illuminated in bright sunshine their bare interiors cool, and the vulgar
high streets of England yobbed by youths whistling at young women with unclothed legs.
