From: mickjer Category: Films Date: 09 August 2006 Time: 04:42 AM Review: Miami Vice goes gritty. The thumping electric sound , the heated gun stand-offs, the conflicted heroes, all alert us to Monsieur Mann's signature. No, sir. Not Starsky and Hutch postmodern high jinks. Mike delivers speed boats and cars that provoke a lust for velocity we didn't know we had. He adds into the mix those hot evening beach houses windows open to the sea song, mannhunterish, that are searing symbols of american movie glamour and sadness. A twisty plot that doesn't matter, some sentimental guff about girlfriends, and mr feral outshines the fox. Not a classic but v watchable (though I fell asleep for a section, which seemed to make no difference to the impenetrability).
