This stately, somewhat pompous, unbearably patriotic, high gloss, very good tv serial finally died. It's demise was of course months late on British TV. And the Santos election plot has been very good, old Jimmy Smits from LA LAW had the easter island mount rushmore stone features and wooden manner to convince as president, much more likely than nervy alan mashed alda. The rousing plots always managed to touch an emotional nerve in me, perhaps some repressed fascist worship of power?, and so I said goodbye with a few tears, and a sense that only the Sopranos will sustain me now. Until that too, belatedly, ends.
