In search of La Coste, around Oxford street July 2006

Review:

Why are La Coste polo shirts a cut above the rest? What makes them different from, say, Ralph Lauren? I have been
scouring the discount shops of Oxford street in the hope fo finding an answer but La Coste does not appear in their aisles,
which is more than you can say for other brands. I find it strange, nonetheless, that the little crocodile (interestingly 'pik' in
Afrikaans) manages to stay out of the economic system that governs the rest of high street fashion. Has this company
perhaps acceded into the dreaming spires of 'haute couture'?
