The first workshop will be run by one of the gallery’s directors, Ismail Erbil, who will be running a series of art & fashion workshops looking at the relationship between the body and contemporary visual art and how this relationship can be expressed through drawing and ideas for fashion design. The workshops’ main aims and ambitions are to respond to exhibited works through drawing and mixed-media collage and translate these responses into ideas and templates for fashion illustration and design. These workshops are ideal for creative individuals who want to gain an insight into fashion drawing through an alternative contemporary art-based approach; suitable for all levels. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to directly engage with the work of emerging contemporary artists from the U.K and abroad and explore your creative potential! The first workshop looks at the work of artist Doug Burton in his solo exhibition at the gallery. Workshops are held outside normal gallery opening hours. There are no age restrictions although children under the age of 18 should be accompanied by an adult. Materials: Materials will be provided i.e papers and colouring pencils but participants are advised to bring along any materials they may already be working with or have to get the most out of these sessions including paper, card, pastels, gouache, inks, acrylics, paints, brushes, scissors, glue etc.. This event is free – suggested donation: £5 Ismail is a tutor at London College of Fashion and has been teaching fashion design and fashion illustration since 2004. He is also an installation artist.
