Review

Paul Auster is so readable, like/mimicing detective fiction, and the milieu of writers obsessing over which colour notebook to choose, and drinking coffee is seductive for this boho. However he and his wife have exactly the same characters, subjects, and style for all their novels. There are writers, an older writer mentor type, a destructive evil adolescent, and walk on femme fatales with nice lips etc. There is talent in creating books that slip down like honey, there is failure and waste in them all being read without trace, like a stone sinking into a pond.
