Again a fantasy for men. Only this time to put it on tv is ok because its a period drama. This means that it can become the educated middle class man's bit of TV culture that they love to talk about "I love Madmen oh don't you", just as with the Wire and Curb and other programs the educated love to 'indulge' in. Essentially the appeal is for the man who wants to fantasize about being able to treat women like dumb sex objects, they have the excuse to because apparently in the past that is how men did treat women. Why can't people make programs with encourage men to be more rather than less humane.
