Why do galleries charge 50% commission. Is this fair?..... Do galleries earn their commission?..... Why aren't artist's paid when they exhibit their art?..... Are artists more or less important than gallerists?.... Are artists expendable and replaceable, so if an artist refuses to show at the poor terms offered by the gallery/curator can they just be exchanged for another artist?...... Is there any way of measuring the value of an artist or artwork except for by price or institutional demand?....... What is the distribution of wealth among artists? Does it reflect their achievement?..... What percentage of contemporary art's wealth is received by artists/investors/galleries/etc?... What are other good questions?
