i liked his higher beings, something goethe like. in the 90s every art student wanted to project up an old woodcut and then sling paint at it, that was what contemporary painting looked like. Now people are more into painterliness or dana schutz and forget why polke was important or why people worried about just painting a realistic picture of a person and being happy with that. It had something to do with the1970s and conceptualism, but who can remember.
